What a fun night raising money for a great cause! All proceeds from Alligators and Ale are being donated to The Miracle League of Coastal Alabama. Thank you Wesley Moore from Alligator Alley for allowing us to have this event there. Central Baldwin Sunset Rotary was the winner of the cornhole tournament. Great job Wayne and Tim!
Josh Baxter, second from left, and Kelly Henderson, third from left, talked to us about The Miracle League of Coastal Alabama. This organization is going to build a baseball field for special needs individuals in Summerdale. Also pictured are Mike Sledge, left, and president Jeremy King. All proceeds from our Alligators and Ale will benefit them.
Learning to filet a fish is not as easy as it looks. We learned from some the best as we cleaned fish for an upcoming fish fry. Our youngest member Alden learned to filet a fish and did a fantastic job.
CBSS Rotary member Mike Sledge made a call out to members last week and asked them to offer support to Hurricane Harvey relief. Between the contributions from our club and his own personal contributions Mike was able to put service above self and pack a van loaded with some supplies for personal needs as well as tools for cleaning up the devastation. As a area that has fresh memories from storms such as Ivan and long memories for storms such as Frederick and Camille we understand what Texas is going through and feel deeply for them. In addition to supplies our members raised $120 at our meeting and the club matched that amount. We plan to pool that money with district 6880 to make a donation the behalf of the Rotary Clubs of South Alabama. One person can bring change and hope. Thanks Mike for reminding us of that.
Thank you to commissioner Chris Elliott, center, for being our guest speaker and sharing some updates on our county. Pictured with Chris is member Anthony Lowery, left, and president Jeremy King.
Sherry Sullivan and Haden Giddens spoke to our club about wireless broadband options in the central Baldwin area. They are pictured here with program sponsor Reagan Scroggins President Jeremy King.
Storm troopers, the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire, descended on Cynthia Nall’s home
during the Rotary year-end party on June 30, 2017. After “storming the party” and escorting our incoming President, Jeremy King, into the swimming pool, they posed for this photo with our gracious host. We enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides, followed by gourmet ice-cream creations by Frenchies Cajun Café. The following club members were recognized for perfect attendance: Kasey Childress, Kelly Childress, Jeremy King, Anthony Lowery, Tonja Lowery, Hoss Mack, Sherri Mack, Brian Pierce, Frances Rigsby, Kathy Schreiber , Reagan Scroggins, Ann Simpson, and Terry Simpson . Kathy presented the Rotarian of the Year Award to Ann, followed by a Paul Harris Fellow presentation to Terry. Kathy also presented the outgoing officers with personalized jigsaw puzzles of the Rotary logo. Jeremy then presented Kathy with her “outgoing President” award and the incoming officers with club shirts. As usual, we had a great time with our Rotary family. Thanks again CYNTHIA!!! Almost 20 members from our club attended the district cruise and annual meeting. A great time was had by all. We even put on a hall party themed the roaring 20's. Mexico my never be the same.
